Our mission

Fiat justitia ruat caelum.

Justice

Justice is one of the chief Roman virtues, and for us it is by far the most important. She is under threat, as it has always been. We want to find solutions to the grave injustices of our times and we think that that must be done together. That is why we are organizing SGAMUN around the theme of justice.

Peace

Francis Fukuyama once said that mankind had arrived at the end of history with the fall of the Berlin Wall. He was, quite sadly, wrong. The world is once again being torn apart by war and famine. Conflicts in the Middle East, in Sudan and even on the European continent, in Ukraine, are changing societies and ruining lives. In most of ancient Rome and ancient Hellas, peace was viewed as a virtue. Even when war was fought, it was fought so that man could live in peace and justice. It does sometimes seem that humankind is no longer concerned with peace. That is why SGAMUN wants to find workable and creative solutions so that peace may triumph once more.

Equality

Inequality is growing in the West and East alike. A small collection of billionaires is hoarding wealth, while millions of children go to school hungry, or don’t go to school or eat at all. SGAMUN sees it as its moral obligation to find solutions to these urgent problems, uniting young people in their quest for equality. We mustn’t let our shared world worsen for the poor and become better for the rich. Every person should have their basic needs fulfilled.
